A pair of pliers has jaws (12) moving about a pivot (13) with hinged (15) handles (14, 16) allowing for different angles of presentation between the jaws and handles. Each handle has a shank with a slightly concave inner face incorporating a socket (17) at approx. the mid-point. The sockets are linked by a two-part spring (19) loaded sliding bridge guide (18, 20).
