Amine and aminoxy compounds (I) and their salts are new. Amine and aminoxy compounds of formula (I) and their salts are new R2.1R2.1N-(X)r-(CO)p-(CR2R3)n-(CO)o-(CR2R3)m-(X)q-R1 (I) R1 = hydrogen, cyano, COO-, COS-, COOH, COSH, COOR1.1, COSR1.1 or N-phthalimidyl; R1.1 = hydrogen, 1-10C alkyl, aralkyl or aryl; R2 and R3 = hydrogen, 1-4C alkyl, OR1.1, halo (fluoro, chloro, bromo or iodo), NR2.1R2.2, Am, OAm or SAm; R2.1 and R2.2 = hydrogen or 1-10C alkyl, aralkyl or aryl; n and m = 0-10; o and p = 0-3, but o is not zero when m = n = 0; Am = amino acid residue; q and r = 0 or 1; X = oxygen or sulfur; proviso: NR2.1R2.2 can be replaced by 1-20C alkyl, aralkyl or aryl, and a cyano, COCN, COOR1, COR1 or C-OR1 group can be replaced by -SO2NR2.1R2.2.
