PURPOSE: A device and a method for guiding a host state are provided to conveniently check the host state regardless of a position of a host by guiding the host state through a monitor always shown to a user. CONSTITUTION: A controller(102) of the host controls the host(100) generally, checks various kinds of states of the host such as a power state, a hard disk driver operating state, a CD operating state, a network connection state, and an e-mail receiving state, and transmits the information for the states to the monitor(200) through a USB(Universal Serial Bus) interface(104). The controller(204) of the monitor controls the monitor generally and controls an LED(Light Emitting Diode) driver(206) to operate the LEDs of an LED array(208) according to various state information provided from the host. The LED array comprises the first and the fifth LED respectively guiding the power state, the hard disk driver operating state, the CD operating state, the network connection state, and the e-mail receiving state to the user.
