<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst having excellent combustion/removal ability for a hydrocarbon-based compound contained in an exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine such as an automobile engine. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust gas cleaning catalyst is constituted so that multiple metal colloid having a center part composed of a noble metal and a surface part composed of a transition metal except the noble metal is supported on a porous metal oxide support. It is preferable that the noble metal is at least one kind selected from among Pt, Pd and Rh and the transition metal is at least one kind selected from among Fe, Mn and Ce. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
