PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and running cost of a carbon precipitation apparatus by drastically enhancing the precipitation efficiency of carbon from CO in a combustion exhaust gas.

SOLUTION: In the treatment method for a combustion exhaust gas containing CO and a harmful substance, the combustion exhaust gas is brought into contact with a catalyst system containing an Na compound as a co-catalyst to precipitate carbon from CO. This precipitated carbon and the combustion exhaust gas are brought into contact with each other to adsorb the harmful substance by precipitated carbon.
