PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a full line recording head in which the logical direction of a recording element array can be switched readily regardless of the mounting direction, and to provide a recorder employing that recording head and a recording method. SOLUTION: When a control signal conforming to the carrying direction of a recording medium is transferred from a recorder to a full line recording head, arranging order of recording data being fed in a specified order is reversed according to the control signal. On the other hand, a plurality of recording elements are divided into a plurality of groups according to the control signal in order to perform time division driving of the plurality of recording elements using the recording data in the specified order or the recording data in the reversed order and the plurality of recording elements are subjected to time division driving for each divided group.
