<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch which can deal with to a large number of channels with only a small number of elements. <P>SOLUTION: A first ferroelectric crystal substrate 10 having a light incident surface and a light-emitting surface, a half-wave plate 15 and a second ferroelectric crystal substrate 11 having a light incident surface and a light-emitting surface are arranged in this order. The crystal axes of the first and second ferroelectric crystal substrates are inclined with respect to incident light so as to produce beam walk off.
