PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus for executing resolution conversion processing followed by binarization processing at a high speed. SOLUTION: Data of adjacent pixels are inputted into a first operation unit 32, a second operation unit 33 and a third operation unit 34, respectively, and the data of three interpolation pixels are calculated in the units 32, 33, 34, respectively. Threshold data corresponding to the respective adjacent pixels are inputted into a fourth operation unit 36, a fifth operation unit 37 and a sixth operation unit 38, and threshold data corresponding to each of three interpolation pixels are calculated. As described above, the data of the interpolation pixels and the threshold data corresponding to the interpolation pixels which are respectively calculated are inputted into binarization processing units 39, 40, 41, and the units 39, 40, 41 convert the data of the interpolation pixels into binary data on the basis of the threshold data.
