PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily actualize a safe and reliable data protection function optimum to each user in cases where a portable storage device is shared by a plurality of users. SOLUTION: Certification information is registered in a portable disk device 107 attachable to and detachable from an information processor 109. The processor 109, after being mounted with the disk device 107, transmits user certification information to perform certification, thereby bringing the disk device 107 into an accessible state. Thereafter, when access by a user to the disk device 107 takes place, certification information registered in the disk device 107 is asked for to certify the user. By the certification or when the certification is obtained by the asking, access to the disk device 107 is permitted. Information on certified users is registered as a table 302 in the information processor 109. When certification is obtained by referring to the table, no asking is made by the disk device 107.
