PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein programs desired not to be erased are stored during using of a recording/reproducing apparatus and an area available to newly record contents is reduced. SOLUTION: The recording/reproducing apparatus includes contents recording means for recording digital data input from an external unit, an external storage data selecting means for selecting part of the digital data recorded in the recording means is stored in a digital data storage unit, and a communication means for communicating with the digital data storage unit.
