PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a 2,6-dichlorophenol compound (2) from a phenol compound (1) in a high yield. SOLUTION: The 2,6-dichlorophenol compound (2) is produced by reacting the phenol compound (1) with sulfuryl chloride in the presence of a secondary amine while performing the introduction of an inert gas into the reaction system and the discharge of the gas therefrom. In compounds [1] and [2], R is a 3,3-dihalo-2-propenyl group or a benzyl group optionally substituted with a halogen atom or atoms. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
