VALVE MEMBER

A valve member for a vacuum drum assembly, the drum including an array of passageways to permit air to flow from the exterior of the drum to the interior of the drum in response to reduced air pressure inside the drum and an array of valve members in functional register with the array of passageways, wherein the valve member comprises a valve actuator, a valve seat and biassing means urging the valve seat to a closed position and in which, in service in the closed position, the valve actuator protrudes from the exterior surface of the drum, the biassing means acts against the exterior surface of the drum about the exterior port of the passageway, the arrangement being such that when the valve actuator is depressed (for example, by material to be printed) the valve seat is urged against the bias into the open position.
