ARC EXTINCTION APPARATUS FOR CIRCUIT BREAKER

PURPOSE: An arc extinction apparatus is provided to achieve improved performance of the circuit breaker by effectively extinguishing and cooling the arc generated during short circuit conditions. CONSTITUTION: A circuit breaker comprises a fixed contact(1) and a movable contact(2) for transmitting a power to the load; a link(3) for moving the movable contact; a detector(4) for detecting an abnormal current; a cross bar(5) for transmitting the signal of the detector to the link; a grid(6) for cooling and extinguish the arc generated when the contacts open; and an arc runner(11) for guiding the arc toward the grid. The arc runner includes an arc guide portion(11a) for guiding the arc toward the grid; and an elastic portion(11b) for increasing electromagnetic repulsive forces.
