PURPOSE: A device for cooling an engine after stopping the engine is provided to circulate cooling water to an engine even if the engine is stopped. CONSTITUTION: A hollow shaft(24) has one end protruded out of a pump housing(21), and has guide rails(25) formed at an end of the outer part of the shaft and cut in a predetermined section. A belt pulley(27) has an axial hole inserted into one side of the hollow shaft to transmit rotary motive power of a crank shaft to the hollow shaft by the medium of a belt, and has key grooves(28) at the axial hole corresponding to the guide rails. An auxiliary pulley(30) inserts an axial hole into the shaft neighboring on the belt pulley to transmit driving power of an electric motor(32) to the shaft, and has key grooves(31) formed at the axial hole corresponding to the guide rails. Keys(40) are moved in association with the guide rails, and are secured by anyone of the key grooves of the belt pulley and the auxiliary pulley. A solenoid(43) is contained inside the shaft to move the keys backward and forward. If a temperature of the engine is higher than an appropriate level in a state that the engine is stopped, a water pump(20) is driven by the electric motor.
