METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING FORMATES AND THE USE THEREOF

The invention relates to a method for producing formates according to which: (a) methyl formate is partially hydrolyzed with water; (b) methyl formate an d methanol are separated by distillation from the reaction mixture obtained in step (a) while forming a stream containing formic acid and water, and; (c) t he stream containing formic acid and water from step (b) is brought together wi th the corresponding formate while forming a mixture containing the formate and water. The invention also relates to a device for producing these formates a nd to the use thereof.
