Chromatic dispersion compensating apparatus and controlling method of the same

A motor (12) changes the position between the virtually imaged phased array (VIPA) dispersion compensating module (DCM) (11) and a mirror. A memory (14) stores the predetermined position control information, corresponding to generation of chromatic dispersion value for desired wavelengths. A controller controls the motor based on the stored information, in order to obtain output light of desired wavelength. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) chromatic dispersion compensating apparatus controlling method; and (2) chromatic dispersion compensation module.
