Tangential indexable cutting insert

Tangential indexable insert (10) comprises a prismatic body having two identical opposite-lying first surfaces (12, 14) and four identical side surfaces (20), four main cutting edges (28) of the same length formed on each surface with each side surface, and a convex web (22) on each side surface. The four webs are symmetrical to a central plane through the side surfaces. A fixing bore (16) runs coaxially through the center of the first surfaces. Cutting surfaces on the side surfaces are formed adjacently to the main cutting edges by grooves (24, 26) on both sides of a web. Flanks on the first surfaces are formed by a spherical surface shape (30) of the first surfaces adjacently to the main cutting edges. An Independent claim is also included for an alternative tangential indexable insert.
