A wireless communication device initiates a search for a peripheral device in response to a trigger event which indicates that the peripheral device is likely to be required for use by the communication device, thereby saving battery power. The communication device may be a mobile telephone, personal digital assistant (PDA), digital camera, keyboard, mouse, etc. and the peripheral device a printer or data source/target. The trigger may be the reception of a message by the communication device, and the communication link may be radio or IR. |
