The method of ventilation is for a tunnel (1) with a roadway (2) having an upper duct (3) separated from the road space. The upper duct can have closable flaps (7) for aspiration openings (6) in the wall (5) separating the road space and duct. In case of fire, the openings above the fire are opened and the others closed and a fan (9) extracts air from the region of the fire.
