Valve (1) in a filter, especially in a liquid filter, comprises a valve body (5) inserted in a valve housing (4) and adjustable between a closed position and an open position. The valve housing has an elastically deformable clamping collar (7) which protrudes radially against the outer wall of the housing. The clamping collar is designed so that a tangent lying in a valve longitudinal plane on the outer clamping collar edge encloses an angle of less than 90degrees with the valve longitudinal axis. Preferred Features: The valve housing including the clamping collar is made of sheet metal. The clamping collar is convex or conical and is arranged in the region of an axial end of the valve housing. A sealing ring (9) is inserted in a peripheral groove formed between the clamping collar and a radially protruding shoulder (8) on the outer wall of the valve housing.
