An auxiliary ballast separator (10) is arranged between a reject slewing conveyor (9) and reject stationary conveyor (8). Said auxiliary ballast separator (10) first outlet is connected to an extended end of a first part (7a) of a reversible conveyor (7) while the other outlet thereof is connected via a connecting conveyor (11) to said reject slewing conveyor (9). Circulating belt (12) of both parts (7a, 7b) of the reversible conveyor (7) is provided with a longitudinal separating cross piece (13) to secure simultaneous and at the same time separate transportation of both fractions of cleaned ballast leaving the first outlets of the separators (6, 10) to the apparatus excavating section.
