A rotatable handlebar shifter, for operating a bicycle derailleur, system comprises a fixed piece 10 connected to a bicycle handlebar having a recess in an end surface which receives a resilient member 20. A rotatable member 40 having an annular flange 44 extending from an end surface 46 is mounted on a tube 12 of the fixed piece 10. A hole in the fixed piece 10 receives an outer part of a cable while a free end of the cable passes through and is fixed to the rotatable member 40. Two blocks 42 extend from the rotatable member 40 and a wear resistant metal plate 50 is mounted on the annular flange 44. Protrusions 53 extend from an outer periphery of the plate 50 and contacts the two blocks 42 on the rotatable member 40. A plurality of notches 54 are formed in an outer periphery of one of the protrusions 53 and an index peak 23 of the resilient member 20 is engaged with at least one of the notches 54. |
