CLOSURE FOR THIN-WALLED CONTAINERS HAVING A MULTI-LEAD THREADED NECK.

A closure and thin-walled container wherein both the closure and neck of the container have a multi-lead thread construction. The closure includes a resilient gasket having a generally flat annular surface sized and positioned to cooperate with a generally flat annular end surface on therewith. The generally flat outer annular surface of the gasket extends into an inwardly and downwardly inclined surface which is sized and positioned to engage an inner edge of the annular end surface of the container to resist mouth distorting forces produced by the mating engagement of the end portions of the multi-lead threads on the closure and container neck.
