PURPOSE: A multi-image output apparatus and method of a composite VCR and optical disc player are provided to output a TV tuner signal and at least one signal reproduced through the composite player through a main picture and a sub-picture. CONSTITUTION: A VCR microcomputer(107) controls playing of a VCR and an optical disc. The first switch(SW1) selectively outputs signals reproduced by the optical disc and VCR under the control of the microcomputer. The second switch(SW2) selectively outputs a broadcasting signal and the output signal of the first switch to process the output signal into a main picture or a sub-picture. A main picture video signal processor(111) and a sub-picture video signal processor(112) process output signals of the second switch into the main picture or sub-picture. A signal mixer(113) mixes the signals processed into the main picture or sub-picture and outputs the mixed signal to a TV screen.
