PURPOSE: A method for controlling an amount of air in a vehicle is provided to prevent an ignition-off phenomenon of an engine by preventing an erroneous calculation for an amount of air when a MAP sensor is malfunctioned. CONSTITUTION: An HFM signal is read(110). An amount of air is calculated(120). A maximum value of air amount is calculated(130). A signal is read from a MAP, which is an intake air measuring sensor(140). Pressure of intake air is calculated(150). Atmospheric pressure is calculated(160). After reading a TPS signal(170), it is determined whether or not pressure of intake air is larger than the atmospheric pressure(180). If pressure of intake air is larger than the atmospheric pressure, it is determined whether or not the TPS is smaller than a threshold value(190). If the TPS is smaller than the threshold value, it is determined whether or not the HFM signal is smaller than the threshold value(200). After calculating a final value of air(210), an error of the MAP sensor is stored(220). Then, MIL is turned off(230).
