PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method is provided to determine displacement by measuring an acceleration signal and tracing an initial speed based on the measured acceleration signal. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for determining displacement includes a first integrator(301), a second integrator(303), a differentiator(305), and an initial speed tracing unit(307). The first integrator(301) is used for performing an integration operation with respect to an acceleration speed by using an initial speed. The second integrator(303) is used for performing an integration operation with respect to a signal received from the first integrator(301). The differentiator(305) is used for differentiating a signal received from the second integrator(303). The initial speed tracing(307) is used for estimating the initial speed in such a manner that an average value of a signal received from the differentiator(305) is actually zero.
