The invention relates to the field of medicine and sanitation and can be used for purification and disinfection of industrial, potable, recreation and other waters. The water is processed with the composition based on guanidine polymers, which includes in addition a potentiating reagent-oxidant which strengthens algicide, fungicide and bactericidal properties of biocide guanidine polymer. The composition has high disinfection properties and profitability. The use of applied method and composition will allow to provide a reliable sanitary-technical functioning of such water objects, as swimming and decorative pools, cooling towers, boiler-rooms, fountains, tanks for water storage, circulatingsystems of water supply and so on.
