The lock cylinder has a toothed edge key (1). One of the edges (1b) contains a series of protrusions and recesses forming a combination with tumbler pins (14) spring-loaded inside a stator (2) and rotor (3) which form part of the cylinder. A blind recess (7) in the untoothed edge (1a) accommodates a relatively strong compression spring (9) and a security tumbler pin (8) moving between extended and retracted positions. When the correct key is inserted, this pin is radially aligned and in contact with a mating pin (10) in a seat in the stator via the opening (13) in a plate (12) inserted in the rotor. The thickness of the plate is equal to the difference between the radii of the untoothed edge (4) and that (5) of the outside of the rotor. In the lengthwise direction, the position of the pins does not coincide with that of the tumbler pins (14) of the main combination.
