PURPOSE: A parking apparatus of an automatic transmission is provided to improve transferring efficiency of power and an operation of a shifting lever by constricting rotation of a parking gear with a locking member. CONSTITUTION: A parking apparatus of an automatic transmission comprises a parking gear(60), a parking rod(58), a locking member and a parking cam(59). The parking gear is splined to an output shaft of the transmission. A parking groove(60¡~) is formed to an outer surface of the parking gear. The parking rod moves straightly according to movement of a shifting lever. The locking member stops rotation of the parking gear by inserting a locking pin(53) to the parking groove according to movement of the parking rod. The parking cam formed to the parking rod operates the locking member when the parking rod moves. Thereby, transferring efficiency of operational power and an operation of the shifting lever are improved by reducing a connecting structure of the parking apparatus.
