<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique enabling optimal route design of optical paths in a network applicable when the number of wavelengths usable in the overall network is limited or when routers having wavelength switching functions are mixed in the network. <P>SOLUTION: The optical path design method for the optical path route design in the optical network includes a step for inputting as parameter the number of wavelengths usable in the overall network; a step for formulating constraint conditions indicating that the number of wavelengths in use for a pair of a source and a sink in the range of the input number of wavelengths is one wavelength, and no overlapped route is existent on the same wavelength and between the same nodes; a step for setting, as objective function, a function indicative of a cost between the source and the sink; and a step for acquiring a solution of minimizing the above objective function, while satisfying the formulated constraint conditions, thereby determining the route between the source and the sink. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
