<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dielectric ceramics composition for microwave having excellent dielectric characteristics and anisotropy, and a method of manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The acicular crystal of a tungsten bronze-type solid solution expressed by a general formula, Ba<SB>6-3x</SB>R<SB>8+2x</SB>Ti<SB>18</SB>O<SB>54</SB>(where, R is at least one element selected from La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, and Gd; 0.5≤x≤0.7) has excellent dielectric characteristics and a distinctive property of anisotropy originating from the form of the acicular crystal. Then, the acicular crystal of the tungsten bronze-type solid solution can be used as an additive for dielectric ceramics for microwave to give the dielectric characteristic to various materials. As a result, the dielectric ceramics composition for microwave having excellent dielectric characteristics and anisotropy is provided. Particularly by mixing the acicular crystal with a polycrystalline tungsten bronze-type solid solution having the same composition, the temperature coefficient (τ<SB>f</SB>) is controlled nearly to 0 ppm/°C while keeping the specific dielectric constant ε<SB>r</SB>and the quality factor Q×f. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
