<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst body for enhancing the efficiency of the utilization of a catalyst, and allowing the catalyst to fully develop its function. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst body has a combination of thin wires 2 having diameters in the order of nanometers and particles 3 having diameters in the order of nanometers and provided with catalytic functions formed on a substrate 1. Thus the spaces between the thin wires 2 serve as flowing paths for the reaction gas, allowing the gas to permeate not only to the tips of the thin wires 2 but also into the inside of the catalyst body.
