<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of separating failure that a paper sheet is wrapped up in secondary transfer of a toner image from an intermediate transfer body to the paper sheet when carrying out both sides printing by using various kinds of paper sheets. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, an image is formed by superposing and nipping a toner image on an intermediate transfer body, moving while carrying the toner image on/with the recording medium, and passed through a fixing position by carrying the recording medium on which the toner image is transferred by a transporting member. A transfer roll 28 forming a nip part 33 by having an intermediate transfer body 21 inserted between a specified roll 25 among a plurality of rolls and a guiding member 35 in which one side is expanded in a close vicinity of the transfer roll are provided.
