<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in a conventional electric power steering device that a long impact absorption stroke of a steering column can not be secured in some cases. <P>SOLUTION: This electric power steering device 1 is provided with an electric motor 9 on a side part 35 of a reducer housing 12 of the steering column 4, first and second mounting brackets 25, 26 are respectively mounted in front of the electric motor 9 at an electric motor 9 side and its opposite side through a lower column bracket 16, and the steering column 4 is supported by both of the brackets 25, 26 and a lower spindle 24. A fixing bolt 27 for fixing with a car body is made detachable by the first mounting bracket 25 in collision. The second mounting bracket 26 makes a lower supporting shaft 24 detachable upon collision. As the first mounting bracket 25 is moved forward with the steering column 4 in collision, it does not interrupt the movement of the electric motor 9, and the long impact absorption stroke can be secured. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
