<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative ion generator capable of generating negative ions in large quantities, reducing high frequency noises supplied to a power source as much as possible, and in addition minimizing the number of parts. <P>SOLUTION: A negative ion generator 10 includes a discharge electrode 11, a high voltage power source 12 for applying a high voltage to the discharge electrode 11, an electric fan 13 for directing airflow towards the discharge electrode 11, an power source 14 for the electric fan 13, and a cabinet 15 for housing the above members. In the cabinet 15 made of a non-conductive and anti-electrostatic material, elongated ion outlets 37, 38 are disposed one above the other in the front face, and an air inlet opening 47 is arranged in the bottom face; and the negative ion generating unit of the discharge electrode 11 is disposed in the rear space of the ion outlets 37, 38, an electric fan 13 is mounted in the air inlet opening 47, and the power source 14 for the electric fan 13 is constituted by using a step-down voltage of a commercial power source that is divided by capacitors 26, 27 for a voltage divider connected to the commercial power source in series, thereby supplying power to the electric fan 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
