PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber exhalation sensor that has high transmitted light intensity variation (selectivity) to humidity change and high response speed, and can detect exhalation without being affected by the humidity condition of the outside air. SOLUTION: In the optical fiber exhalation sensor, a cladding layer where non-aqueous material with a particle size of 1-50μm disperses in hydrophilic polymer is formed on a core of a plastic optical fiber. Thus, the transmitted light intensity variation (selectivity) to humidity change is improved, the response speed is increased, and exhalation can be detected without being affected by the humidity condition of the outside air. For further improving the selectivity, the plastic optical fiber is bent to radius of 2-10 mm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
