PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the multi-color image forming apparatus that prevents image quality deterioration resulting from transfer failure. SOLUTION: The multi-color image forming apparatus has an electrifier 2, a photoreceptive drum 1 holding a toner image formed by a development device, an intermediate transfer body 5 in the form of a cylindrical endless belt, a first transfer member 54 which transfers a toner image formed on the photoreceptive drum 1 to the intermediate transfer body 5, a second transfer member 6 which transfers the toner image on the intermediate transfer body 5 to transfer material P, a fixing device 8 which fixes the toner image on the transfer material P, a rib 55 disposed on the internal circumferential face of one of the open ends of the intermediate transfer body 5 and provided to restrict movement of the intermediate transfer body 5 in directions other than a specific direction. In pressing force applied to the first transfer member 54 of the multi-color image forming apparatus, pressing force on the side where the rib 55 is provided is greater than pressing force on the side where the rib 55 is not provided.
