PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder capable of recording information efficiently on a recording medium, a recording method, a program, and a computer system. SOLUTION: The recorder comprises a means for carrying a recording medium, a detecting means movable in a direction intersecting the carrying direction of the recording medium in order to detect the width of the recording medium in that direction, and a recording head for recording information by ejecting liquid wherein on/off operation of the detecting means for detecting the width of the recording medium can be set.
