A hair washing apparatus (10) and method of use of the same is provided. The apparatus (10) includes a basin (34) having an outer edge and an inner edge that defines an opening (50) for vertically positioning the wash basin (34) in a user desired position. The wash basin (34) is formed of a generally rigid material such that when a person's head (52) is positioned within the opening (50), the basin (34) prevents the person's head (52) from moving while the hair (60) is being washed.
