<p>The invention relates to a knee joint prosthesis (10) having a bearing and a biologic ligament (70) for replacing the articulating knee portion of a femur (14) and a tibia (12). The knee joint prosthesis (10) includes a femoral component (16), a tibial component (18), a bearing member (20), and a biologic ligament (70). The femoral component (16) includes a first femoral bearing surface (928) and a second femoral bearing surface (30). The tibial component (18) includes a tibial bearing (surface54). The bearing member includes a first bearing surface which is operable to articulate with the first femoral bearing surface (28), a second bearing surface (30) which is operable to articulate with the second femoral bearing surface (30) and a third bearing surface which is operable to articulate with the tibial bearing surface. The biologic ligament (70) is coupled to both the tibia (12) and femur (14) to prevent the knee joint from dislocating and guiding the femoral component (16) along a desired path during extension and flexion.</p> |
