An adhesive gel composition for transdermal or transmucous iontophoresis preparation that excels in all of drug absorptivity, drug stability, gel shape retention and gel adherence and can be produced with reduced cost through easy mixing and charging at the stage of production; and a process for producing the same. The adhesive gel composition for iontophoresis preparation comprises an ionic synthetic polymer material, a nonionic synthetic polymer material, a natural polymer material, a polyhydric alcohol, a crosslinking agent and a drug. In the production of the adhesive gel composition for iontophoresis preparation, nitrogen replacement and/or vacuum blending is carried out at the stage of mixing or blending components to thereby positively remove dissolved oxygen from the gel.
