<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation apparatus in which not only a printing engine, but a printing controller are shifted to a power saving mode, and also quickly restored to a normal operation mode. <P>SOLUTION: The printing controller 2 of a laser printer 1 has the normal operation mode of carrying out normal power supply and the power saving mode of a smaller power consumption than at the normal operation mode. A program and setting data are temporarily stored in an SRAM 33 as a nonvolatile memory at the power saving mode. Therefore, not only the printing engine 3, but the printing controller 2 can be shifted to the power saving mode. Moreover, when restored to the normal operation mode from the power saving mode, the printing engine and the printing controller can be returned to a state before shifted to the power saving mode by developing the setting data and program retreated to the SRAM 33 at shifting to the power saving mode onto a work memory, or by the like means. The power consumption can be reduced furthermore, and the printing engine and the printing controller can quickly be restored from the power saving mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
