PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit a reason why a user can not answer to a transmitter when the user can not immediately answer an incoming call of a telephone as a message without utterance of a receiver. SOLUTION: Choices of an answering message to be replied are displayed on a display unit 311 by disconnecting the connection once by confirming a telephone number of the transmitter by operations of specific keys by the user when the incoming call of the telephone is received at the portable terminal 10. When the user selects the message by further operations of prescribed keys, the message is replied to the transmitter as a short message. When an electronic mail address corresponding to the telephone number can be confirmed with a telephone number directory built in the portable terminal, the message can be also replied by the electronic mail.
