PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for thermally treating acrylic fibers, by which the stabilized acrylic fibers can be obtained after the thermal treatment. SOLUTION: This method for thermally treating the acrylic fibers comprises setting the acrylic fibers accumulated in a container 1 to the inside of a closed pot, first repeating pressure-reducing treatments and steam-pressurizing treatments in the closed pot to replace air by steam, pressurizing the reduced pressure state with steam in the above-described replacement treatment, performing pressure-reducing treatments and steam-pressurizing treatments several times, performing a pressure-reducing treatment, and finally returning to the ordinary pressure to finish the thermal treatment.
