PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively producing carbon nanotubes in bulk. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a carbon nanotube, organic polysiloxane is thermally decomposed. The organic polysiloxane is preferably at least one kind selected from silicone oil, silicone rubber and silicone resin. Further, the organic polysiloxane is thermally decomposed preferably in the presence of a platinum-based catalyst. Also, silicon nitride powder of≤20 mass% of the organic polysiloxane is preferably mixed into the organic polysiloxane. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
