PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the permanent stop of a compressor by restoring a normal pressure balance for a refrigerating cycle while ensuring the restart of the compressor if an abnormal stop of the compressor has been caused by the malfunction of a switching valve. SOLUTION: The controller for the refrigerating cycle includes the refrigerating cycle having a variable-capability compressor consisting of inverter controls and a plurality of refrigerant flow passages; and the selector valve constructed of a stepping motor, with its valve element moved to supply refrigerant to each refrigerant flow passage. When the compressor is not rotated nor actuated in response to a rotation speed command (S10), the valve element of the selector valve is returned to its initial position (S11).
