PURPOSE: Elevator facilities and an arrangement method of a drive engine for the elevator facilities are provided to arrange drive engines selectively and freely in the upper part of a counterweight or a lift with the triangular area. CONSTITUTION: An elevator system comprises drive engines installed on a crossbeam(8); a lift car(11) installed in a lift path(10); a counterweight(12); and the crossbeam fixed to counterweight guides(9,9') and lift car guides(5,5'). The gearless drive engines have two drive pulleys(3,3'). The pulley is operatively connected to a motor(1) and a brake(2) by a shaft(4). The drive pulleys are arranged at right and left sides of a horizontal connector of the lift car guide. Two ends of the crossbeam are fastened to the counterweight guides, and the center of the cross beam is fixed to the lift car guide.
