<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a spherical oxide particle having high fire resistance and excellent crushing resistance, from which a casting mold having high heat conductivity is formed and which is used for a projection material, and to provide the spherical oxide particle manufactured by the method. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the spherical oxide particle comprises a reaction agent manufacturing process for manufacturing the reaction agent by mixing iron oxide powder, powder containing metal aluminum and powder containing metal magnesium, or manufacturing the reaction agent by mixing the components and molding the mixture, a reaction process for igniting the reaction agent as it is or igniting a reaction agent in which one or more kind of MgO, ZrO<SB>2</SB>and Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>are added to cause thermit reaction, a granulation process for spherically granulating resultant molten oxide and a classification process for classifying the granulated particles.
