INHIBITOR OF SIDE EFFECT OF MEDICAMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide effective utilization of Spermatochnaceae, in detail, effective utilization of fucoidan derived from the Spermatochnaceae to gastric cells.

SOLUTION: The inhibitor of side effects of various kinds of medicaments contains the fucoidan derived from the Spermatochnaceae. Not only a purified pure product but also a hot water extract of the Spermatochnaceae (e.g. Cladosiphon okamuranus) or a treated product thereof are used as the fucoidan. The inhibitor has excellent activities for inhibiting the side effects of various kinds of the medicaments, and also has activities for enhancing the activities of an anticancer agent (e.g. 5-FU), and activities for inhibiting the effects of the anticancer agent on normal gastric cells. The inhibitor is utilized as a medicine or a food and drink.
