<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver monitoring device which can monitor the face condition of a driver with an easy and simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: The driver monitoring device has an imaging means for continuously imaging the driver's face; an area setting means which sets, in the image taken with the imaging means, at least one area including a first head surface region to be a first radius of gyration with respect to the driver's head rotational axis center, and a second head surface region to be a second radius of gyration larger than the first radius of gyration; a time difference value calculation means which collects, in chronological order, the images in the area set with the area setting means, and calculates a difference value between the images which is collected this time and an image which has been collected last time; and a face direction determination means which makes a determination on the direction of the driver's face based on the difference value obtained with the time difference value calculation means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
